Wrong black tea do not keep for 30 years. 1 year or some can last 2 years. The only tea that lasts 30+ years is pu-erh tea. And she forgot dried mushroms they last way longer than 30 years

While I don't agree with everything she said. You have to take the context into account. She was talking about disaster preparedness. Since I like black tea, I would rather give it a go with storing black tea in a glass jar and have it not taste it's absolute best than have none. Black tea is not going to develop any bacteria if stored in an air tight jar.

I thought she brought up several intersting points about how to store things to last as long as possible.

I made a list of the foods she mentioned. Food that lasts forever:

  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Corn syrup
  • Raw, unfiltered honey
  • Pure vanilla extract
  • Maple syrup
  • Vinegar
  • Popcorn
  • (Black tea)
  • Cornstarch
  • Soy sauce
  • Dry milk
  • Hard tac?
  • Chip biscuits
  • Dry bouillon
  • Ghee
  • Dried beans
  • Hard liquors
  • White rice

In the video, she uses moisture absorbers in some of the cans. As far as I have found, they can last for years in tightly sealed containers, but not forever.

Also worth mentioning is flour. It ”only” lasts for up to eight years, but due to its versatility, it can definitely be worth storing.
