Wikipedia defines homesteading as:

"a lifestyle of self-sufficiency. It is characterized by subsistence agriculture, home preservation of foodstuffs, and it may or may not also involve the small scale production of textiles, clothing, and craftwork for household use or sale."

Homesteading is about getting back to basics. Leading a life that is more free from chemicals, dyes and consumerism. Living as close to "natural" as possible with empowerment through shared community knowledge.

I used to think that to be a "homesteader" you would need five acres and a bunch of free time. However, I now understand that you can just start where you are and make small changes that set you on a course for living less dependent on packaged goods. As you develop skills and acquire knowledge you make homesteading a way of life no matter where you live. ANY level of living less dependent is considered success!

Empower yourself today to live more freely tomorrow.
